Everton will be a buoyant side when they travel to the Vicarage Road to face a Watford team who have stuttered a bit in recent weeks. The Toffees dug in and snatched a draw against a United team who failed to turn their first-half domination into goals.
The Goodison Park outfit had started the season on an extremely positive note winning 4 and drawing 1 of their opening 5 matches. But their form has dipped off late and they managed a single win in their next 9. But Ronald Koeman will be desperate to see his side carry the momentum gathered from a positive display against the Red Devils and will want a win against the Hornets.
Watford are currently in the 11th spot and will be looking to enter the Top 10 as quickly as possible. They will be quietly confident of getting a positive result against Everton and Walter Mazzarri will hope his players can execute the game plan on the pitch.
Everton will be facing Arsenal, Liverpool and Leicester City over a busy Christmas period and given the nature of the fixtures it is likely that they will be targeting a win in the weekend. Koeman has to deal with a couple of injury concerns while selecting his best eleven.
PREDICTED EVERTON LINE-UP VS WATFORD (4-2-3-1)
DEFENCE
Marten Stekelenburg will be under pressure to improve on his recent displays. After an encouraging start to the season, he has fumbled in recent weeks and committed a couple of errors. The Dutchman has to get his act together. Seamus Coleman is expected to be fit in time for the match and will be at right-back.
Former Swansea City skipper, Ashley Williams, will be at right centre-back with Funes Mori his likely partner. The duo performed admirably against United and will be confident of keeping out the Hornets. Leighton Baines will be at left-back.
MIDFIELD
Gareth Barry and Idrissa Gueye were stationed in midfield against United and they did a tremendous job, especially the Senegalese. He is fast becoming an integral part of the team and will have to keep up his good form for Everton to get back into the groove once again. With a change back the 4-2-3-1 formation likely, Barkley might come into the team in the No.10 role.
ATTACK
With Bolasie out for a considerable time now, Mirallas is likely to line-up on the left with Gerard Deulofeu coming in on the opposite flank. Romelu Lukaku will be leading the line.
