In a recent interview with Japanese commentator Takashi Mizunuma (as quoted by the Daily Record), Celtic sensation Kyogo Furuhashi has opened up on his future and Premier League aspirations. A blistering start at Parkhead has led to discussions over a potential move south of the border in the coming days, but the attacker has shown great maturity and humbleness to handle the speculations.
“Many players go from Scotland to the EPL. It’s motivating to see Takehiro Tomiyasu do well. Good results could open that path for me, but I have to get results to survive at Celtic and the Japan National Team. I want to do the best I can and contribute to (both) teams.”
Said the 26-year-old who has fired in 8 goals already in 11 Celtic appearances across competitions.
Furuhashi, a familiar face in J1 League, was little known in Europe a few months ago. Ange Postecoglou, the former Yokohama F. Marinos chief, explored his connection and influence to secure his services from Vissel Kobe. The player took little time to make his presence known in Scottish football and the Hoops suffered significantly when he picked up an injury last month while representing Japan. The fans are hoping to have him back unscathed from the national camp as they are fortunate enough to have ‘Kyogoal’ leading the line following the exit of Odsonne Edouard.
