Rangers will host Hearts at Ibrox Stadium on Saturday in the Premiership and will be looking to take revenge for the loss last month against the same opposition. The two sides met each other on 30th November and Rangers lost the game 2-0. It was a dismal performance from the Gers but they proved a point in their 2-1 win over Aberdeen in the subsequent fixture. Rangers sit second in the table right now with 29 points from 16 games while Hearts are just two points and two spots behind them.
The Premiership has become a one-horse race in recent years and this season looks to be no exception. Hearts, Rangers and Aberdeen have been inconsistent and have been exchanging the second, third and fourth spots between themselves while Celtic are again running away with it.
Rangers have found it hard to keep their consistency in terms of their results and performances. They looked solid against Aberdeen but you never know which side will turn up against Hearts.
Mark Warburton has faced a lot of criticism for Rangers not being able to deliver on a weekly basis but a win against Hearts will be a big statement in favour of the English boss who took them back to the Premiership. Here is the predicted Rangers lineup against Hearts.
Defence
Wes Foderingham should keep his place under the bar with ease ahead of veteran Matt Gilks. Lee Hodson had a brilliant game against Aberdeen last week and it would be a criminal offence to bench him again. We think Hodson should get the nod ahead of Tavernier for a start at right-back. Skipper Lee Wallace will keep his place at left-back.
We expect Danny Wilson to start at the heart of the Rangers defence with Clint Hill missing through suspension. Rob Kiernan will partner Wilson at the back. Hill’s absence could prove to be a big problem for Rangers.
Midfield
We expect Matt Crooks to start at the base of Rangers midfield against Hearts. Andy Halliday has been excellent in that role this season but the Scot will have to start as a box to box midfielder with Josh Windass missing the game. Jason Holt will complete the midfield trio of the Gers.
Attack
Michael O’Halloran is likely to start on the right flank. Veteran Kenny Miller could keep his place on the left flank. Martyn Waghorn is back from injury and could start against Hearts ahead of Joe Garner and Joe Dodoo.
