In a recent report, Calciomercato stated that Everton are locked in a three-way battle for Newcastle United winger Allan Saint-Maximin. It has been revealed that the Toffees could face competition in the form of Chelsea and Liverpool in the race to secure the services of the French sensation who could part ways with the Magpies at the end of this campaign.
Saint-Maximin’s Excellent Form For The Magpies This Season
Saint-Maximin has carried most of Newcastle’s attacking workload in the injury absence of Callum Wilson this season. The 24-year-old has done well to find the back of the net twice and secure three assists in seven appearances for the Tyneside outfit so far in this campaign.
The ex-OGC Nice wide player has shown some signs of improvement in his game over the past couple of months as he is averaging 2.2 shots, 2.7 key passes and 4.2 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Premier League. The Frenchman has even taken care of the ball well when distributing possession in the final third, as evidenced by his pass success rate of 81.5% in the English first division (stats via whoscored).
The way Saint-Maximin has been playing of late, it is no surprise that so many top English sides, including the Toffees, are being linked with a move for him at the end of this season. The talented attacker’s current contract at St. James’ Park runs out in the summer of 2026, so Everton will have to make a big offer if they want to win the race for his signature.

Saint-Maximin is currently amongst the quickest wingers in Premier League football as he can often choose to turn on the afterburners to breeze past his marker in the final third. He has developed a habit of completing some exciting dribbles with the ball and has got the vision to unlock the opponent’s defence with a decisive pass when needed.
The French sensation is also improving himself as a finisher this season as Bruce has often preferred to play him as a makeshift forward to cope with Callum Wilson’s injury absence. So far, Saint-Maximin seems to have enjoyed the freedom of playing as a striker up top.
Thus, Everton would be wise to engineer a move to get him on board next summer. Rafael Benitez managed to get the best out of Saint-Maximin during their time together at Newcastle. The Spanish head coach knows the player quite well by now and could benefit from adding someone like him to bolster his attack.
Saint-Maximin has the potential to strike up a dangerous attacking partnership with Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison at Goodison Park for years to come. We can expect him to add plenty of pace and goals to Everton’s frontline if Benitez can devise a way to bring him to Merseyside.
