Manchester United attacker Memphis Depay is all set to move away from Old Trafford in the January transfer window. The 27-cap Netherlands international has failed to make an impact since his big money move from PSV Eindhoven last summer and the new manager Jose Mourinho also doesn’t consider him to be a part of his future plans.
The player who earned rave reviews from the scouts and a considerable chunk of United’s transfer kitty of last season is now considered to be one of the big money flops. With just four appearances this season, Depay’s odds of leaving Old Trafford were slashed as some clubs registered their interest in the player. Let’s take a look at some of the clubs which the winger can join this winter.
Everton
An excellent option for Depay, with the Toffees registering their interest in the player from some time now. Everton boss Ronald Koeman knows all too well his countryman and there is every chance of Depay finding his form under the manager which he so desperately needs.
A move to Everton would offer the winger to get his second chance in the Premier League to prove the doubters wrong which must be very tempting for him. Also under Koeman, Everton are looking to turn things around with a new project in place at Goodison. Koeman’s ability to get the best out of the player will hugely benefit the player as well as the cause the manager aims to achieve at the club.
AC Milan
The Italian giants are experiencing a turnaround after some tough years with charismatic manager Vincenzo Montella steering the club forward with confidence. Milan are one of the clubs linked with the player according to reports.
Currently sitting third in the Serie A, Milan are serious contenders for the Scudetto of this season which is why there is a chance for Depay to achieve something if he can contribute after moving to the San Siro.
With his pace, the Dutch winger can be an excellent option for the club as their title credentials would be boosted further. A chance of playing at one of the most renowned clubs in the world in a different country should be very appealing as well.
Wolfsburg
As per German news outlet Bild, Bundesliga club Wolfsburg, are keen on the player and would want to secure his services in January. A move to the Volkswagen Arena would present Depay with a chance of regular first team football. Depay would relish that along with the experience of playing in the Bundesliga.
More importantly with Julian Draxler linked with a move away from side in the winter, Depay has the chance of slotting into the wide left and elevating himself to hero status amongst the fans with some strong displays.
