Newcastle United will clash heads with Watford at Vicarage Road on Saturday evening as they try to secure something from this tough away clash in the Premier League. The Magpies managed to pick up a 1-1 draw against Leeds United last weekend, so Steve Bruce will be eager to get a much-improved showing from his players when they face off against the Hornets this weekend.
The Newcastle boss could opt for a 5-4-1 formation and will rely on Allan Saint-Maximin to lead the charge for the Tyneside outfit in the final third. We can expect Bruce to keep changes to a minimum for this upcoming league clash on the road.
5-4-1 Newcastle United Predicted Lineup To Face Watford
Defence
Karl Darlow will play as Newcastle’s primary keeper after conceding one goal against the Whites last weekend. Ciaran Clark will operate alongside Jamaal Lascelles and Isaac Hayden in the centre-back positions as they look to keep the Hornets attackers frustrated throughout the game.
Javier Manquillo is expected to get the nod to play at right-back while Matt Ritchie hopes to impress from the left-back position. They will both have to work hard defensively if Newcastle are to come out on top at Vicarage Road this weekend.
Freddie Woodman and Paul Dummett won’t be available for selection because of injury. However, Fabian Schar and Emil Krafth should be fit to start on the bench as they offer cover for the defensive positions.
Midfield
Joe Willock and Sean Longstaff will continue to operate as the central midfielders if the former can pass a late fitness test. Willock recently picked up a knock and is a major doubt for this game. Joelinton could get another chance to impress as the left-sided winger while Miguel Almiron hopes to put his pace to good use from the right flank.
Jonjo Shelvey is still injured and won’t play a part in this game, but Jeff Hendrick can be expected to be named on the bench as he waits for his opportunity to make an impact in the second half if required.
Attack
Allan Saint-Maximin will lead the charge for the Tyneside club in the attacking end of the pitch. He managed to find the back of the net in his last league outfit, so Bruce would hope that the French speedster can produce another influential performance in the Premier League this weekend.
