In a recent print edition, Mundo Deportivo (via Sport Witness) mentioned that Liverpool are locked in a three-way battle for Borussia Dortmund goal-scorer Erling Haaland. It is understood that the Reds along with Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are all ‘in the footsteps’ of the Norway international ahead of a potential move at the end of this campaign.
Haaland’s Incredible Numbers At Signal Iduna Park This Season
Haaland has continued to prove his worth as a goal-scoring machine for Dortmund after producing a run of match-winning displays for them so far this season. The 21-year-old has already found the back of the net on 11 occasions and grabbed four assists in eight matches for the German giants in this campaign across all fronts.
The Norwegian marksman has been an unstoppable force in the final third as he has averaged 5.2 shots, 1.4 key passes and 1.2 dribbles per game in the Bundesliga. However, he needs to work on improving his link-up play after completing 70.8% of his attempted passes in the German top tier (stats via whoscored).
Haaland is currently amongst the best goal-getters in European football, so he would be an incredible addition to Liverpool’s squad if they can devise a way to bring him to Anfield next summer when the striker will have just two years left in his Dortmund contract.
What Will The Norway International Bring To Anfield?
Haaland is blessed with electric pace and exceptional strength that allows him to make some clever runs with the ball in the attacking end of the field. He has transformed himself into one of the best finishers in Europe and seems to enjoy banging in the goals regularly at the highest level.
The 15-time Norway international can also create some decent plays for others around him and usually chips in with his fair share of assists in the final third. However, as mentioned earlier, he needs to work on improving his passing accuracy if he wants to succeed playing in Jurgen Klopp’s brand of football in the coming seasons.
We can expect Haaland to bring plenty of pace, power and goals to Liverpool’s attack. He is undoubtedly good enough to beat Diogo Jota and Roberto Firmino in the race to secure a regular starting spot in Klopp’s starting XI next season. At 21, Haaland is a generational talent who would be an outstanding acquisition for the Reds to pull off in the future.
