Arsenal locked horns with Burnley at Turf Moor earlier this afternoon as they looked to secure their second win in the Premier League this season. The Gunners made a bright start to the game and took the lead in the 30th minute courtesy of Martin Odegaard’s excellent free-kick. Mikel Arteta’s men protected their lead well and went into the half-time interval 1-0 up on the scoreline.
Both sides canceled each other out in the second 45 minutes as the North London outfit earned a hard-fought 1-0 victory away at Lancashire.
Let’s take a look at how each Arsenal player fared during the clash against the Clarets.
GK: Aaron Ramsdale – 7.5/10
The Gunners keeper made a few key saves to restrict the Clarets from scoring during the game.
RB: Takehiro Tomiyasu – 7/10
He was strong in the air and put in a solid defensive display inside his half. However, he failed to influence the game in the final third.
CB: Ben White – 7.5/10
White won his fair share of aerial duels and made plenty of important clearances at the back. He will be quite happy with the clean sheet today.
CB: Gabriel – 7/10
The Brazilian centre-back was a rock at the back as he cleared the danger when called into action. He even blocked a couple of shots.
LB: Kieran Tierney – 6.5/10
He cleared his lines when needed but struggled to make an impact in the Burnley half.
CDM: Thomas Partey – 7/10
Partey anchored the midfield with conviction and was also quite lively on the ball. Arteta would be satisfied with his performance today.
RW: Nicolas Pepe – 7/10
Pepe caused a lot of problems for the Burnley defenders with his running and creativity. However, there was no goal for him.
CM: Emile Smith Rowe – 6/10
He squandered two good chances to find the back of the net. Smith Rowe was replaced at the hour mark.
CM: Martin Odegaard – 8/10
Odegaard scored a brilliant goal to win the game from Arsenal. He executed his free-kick to perfection in the first half and deserves the man of the match award.
LW: Bukayo Saka – 6/10
The English wide player did his fair share of defending but had a quiet game in the opponent’s half.
ST: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – 6.5/10
Aubameyang orchestrated a few decent openings for his teammates up top. However, he will be disappointed after failing to score today.
Substitutes:
CM: Albert Sambi Lokonga – 6.5/10
He added some energy to Arteta’s midfield.
CDM: Ainsley Maitland-Niles – 6/10
Maitland-Niles did enough to see out the three points after coming off the bench for the final quarter of the game.
LB: Nuno Tavares – 6/10
Tavares picked up a booking after coming on in the 77th minute.
