Recent reports from Sky Sports state that France midfielder Paul Pogba is leaning towards signing a contract extension at Manchester United as he has been impressed by the club’s recruitments this summer.

The Frenchman’s £300,000-a-week contract is set to expire in June 2022, but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer seems relaxed about the entire situation. The player himself is in no hurry to put pen to paper, but talks between the club and his representative Mino Raiola have progressed fairly well in recent times.
“Paul has come in, bright with his own personality, he’s worked hard over the summer. He’s lean and he’s enjoying himself.” – The Norwegian coach said after United’s 1-1 draw at Saint Mary’s stadium on matchday 2.
“We’ve seen that Paul wants to contribute. Of course you [reporters] don’t see him in the dressing room or in training, but he’s really determined and he shows his winning mentality and I’m very impressed with him.
“That’s gonna be the question every week now until he does [sign a new contract].
“As I’ve said all the time, Paul is a top player, the talks are between the club and his representatives, I’m not involved in that but he knows how much I care about him and that we want him to play well for us.”
Why Solskjaer Cannot Afford To Lose Him
With 7 assists in four matches, Paul Pogba has started the 2021/22 Premier league season in a brilliant fashion, and it would be an understatement to say that Solskjaer will need consistent performances from the 28-year-old over the course of the season if he wishes to have a successful term ahead.
With the addition of stars like Cristiano Ronaldo, Raphael Varane, and Jadon Sancho, Manchester United are in a prime position to compete for major silverware this season. As a result, Pogba is more open to staying at Old Trafford compared to nine months ago when his agent openly claimed that a move away would be the best for his future.
