According to Express, Tottenham Hotspur are interested in Leroy Sane. The Bayern Munich attacker faces an uncertain future at the club and there are multiple clubs who may want to snap him up. Chelsea are primarily interested in securing the services of Sane, who is favoured by Thomas Tuchel. But they are set to face stiff competition from Tottenham, as well as Arsenal.
Leroy Sane’s Struggles At Bayern Munich
Leroy Sane has had a difficult time since returning to Germany last summer. Formerly of Schalke, the winger has found it difficult to cope with the high expectations one can usually associate with any Bayern player, with the player often struggling with lack of form or momentum.
The former Man City star was involved in as many as 16 league goals last term. But he still fell behind the likes of Thomas Muller, Serge Gnabry and Kingsley Coman in the pecking order. This time around, new coach Julian Nagelsmann has offered him an opportunity to perform, but the attacker has once again lacked form.
Jamal Musiala’s rapid rise to prominence threatens him to lose further importance in the Bayern squad. Sane’s expensive wage packet has already caused a lot of chaos in the camp, leaving the fans disgruntled, especially after his performances on the pitch.
The German international, therefore, could be open to finding an exit as soon as possible and a return to the Premier League could indeed be on the cards next summer, if not the winter transfer window itself.
A Good Option For Tottenham?
Leroy Sane’s potential addition to Tottenham Hotspur could be an intriguing prospect for the club. The attacker brings some valued experience at the highest level of football as he has played in the Premier League before.
Not to mention, the winger is highly renowned for his quick footwork and ability to dribble past opposing players at ease. But that said, his move to Spurs won’t make much sense from a sporting perspective.
The Lilywhites have already brought in Bryan Gil from Sevilla in the summer in an attempt to reinforce their wide attacking department, which already boasts the services of Son Heung-Min, Lucas Moura, Steven Bergwijn and even Ryan Sessegnon.
Sane would certainly be an upgrade over all of them, but he may also attract a hefty wage bill that is simply not ideal at a time when Spurs are trying to build the core of the future setup and are likely to lose Harry Kane sooner rather than later. Hence, it would perhaps be a wiser option for the North London giants to drop the idea of signing the Bayern forward anytime soon.
