West Ham United entertained Crystal Palace at the London Stadium earlier this afternoon as they looked to earn a victory in front of their home supporters in the London derby. The Hammers made a strong start to the game and got themselves ahead in the 39th minute courtesy of Pablo Fornals’ goal from close range. The East London outfit defended their lead well and went into the half-time break one goal to the good.
Conor Gallagher equalized for the Eagles just 13 minutes into the second half before Michail Antonio kept his good form going by finding the back of the net for West Ham in the 68th minute. However, the home team’s advantage lasted for just two minutes as Conor Gallagher scored again with a great finish to level the scoreline for Palace. The match finished with both sides sharing the points after playing out an entertaining 2-2 draw in the London derby.
Let’s take a look at how each West Ham player performed during the contest against the Eagles.
GK: Łukasz Fabiański – 5.5/10
The Polish keeper failed to make a save in the game and won’t be happy after shipping in two goals during the 90 minutes.
RB: Vladimír Coufal – 6.5/10
Coufal did his fair share of defending inside his half and had a couple of lively moments in the Palace half.
CB: Craig Dawson – 6/10
Dawson had a solid first half but made a few errors of judgment in the second. It was a lacklustre display from him today.
CB: Angelo Ogbonna – 6.5/10
The Italian sensation made a couple of crucial interceptions but will be disappointed for conceding two goals in the second half.
LB: Aaron Cresswell – 7/10
Cresswell was defensively solid down the left flank and made one good chance in the Palace half.
CM: Tomas Soucek – 6.5/10
Soucek got stuck in with a few crunching tackles and cleared the danger when the Eagles were looking to threaten on the counter. However, he was quite underwhelming in the attacking end of the pitch.
CM: Declan Rice – 7/10
The English talent anchored the Hammers midfield quite well and made some energetic runs with the ball going forward. However, his efforts were not enough for West Ham to win the derby.
RM: Jarrod Bowen – 6.5/10
He made two good chances for his teammates to score and got substituted in the 78th minute.
CAM: Pablo Fornals – 7/10
Fornals gave the Hammers a first-half lead and looked quite bright at times in the final third. However, he ran out of gas and got replaced before the end of the game.
LM: Said Benrahma – 6/10
Benrahma has a few good moments in the opposition half but there was no goal or assist for him today.
ST: Michail Antonio – 8/10
Antonio is currently enjoying a rich vein of form and it showed in his performance during the game. He created West Ham’s opener before going on to score one himself in the second half.
Substitutes:
RM: Manuel Lanzini – 6/10
He added some energy to West Ham’s attack.
CAM: Andriy Yarmolenko – N/A
Yarmolenko hardly had any time to influence the game.
