According to Calciomercato, Tottenham are in the market for Franck Kessie. The AC Milan midfielder is facing an uncertain future at the club, with the Serie A giants failing to meet his €6.5m per season demands. It has put Spurs on red alert, with the north London giants prepared to offer €8 million for Kessie, though the player does prefer a prolonged stay at San Siro.
Franck Kessie’s Success At Milan
Franck Kessie has been a success at AC Milan since joining the club in 2017. He has established himself as one of the best midfielders in Serie A, having already featured in almost 200 competitive appearances for the Rossoneri.
A central midfielder by trade, Kessie was initially known for his ability to break up play in the middle of the park. His unmatched stamina, combined with a commendable work ethic had made him an ideal cog in the second line of press for Milan.
But under the leadership of Stefano Pioli, the Ivorian has further advanced his game. Indeed, the 24-year-old has transformed himself into an attack-minded midfielder, whose ability to make driving runs into the final third makes him a major threat for the opposition.
Kessie most notably netted as many as 13 goals last season while bagging six assists. It makes him one of the most productive midfielders available in the market right now. It is coupled with his work ethic and athleticism that has transformed him into a complete central midfielder.
A Massive Coup For Tottenham?
Franck Kessie could be an excellent addition to the Tottenham Hotspur side that has lacked quality options in the middle of the park in recent years. While the arrival of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg turned out to be a bargain last summer, other options have struggled to establish themselves.
Moussa Sissoko lacks any quality on the ball while Harry Winks struggles at everything apart from passing the ball. Tanguy Ndombele, on the other hand, is far too inconsistent and is not wanted by new coach Nuno Espirito Santo.
The acquisition of someone like Kessie, in that regard, could replenish the Spurs midfield. The Ivorian’s work ethic and ability his influence in the final third make him an ideal partner for Hojbjerg in Tottenham’s double-pivot.
Moreover, the Milan star has a considerable amount of experience at the highest level of football, having featured in 173 games in the Italian top-flight while winning 44 caps for the Ivorian national team. This vault of experience indeed makes Kessie a viable option for Tottenham this summer.
