In a recent report, The Daily Telegraph stated that Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Adama Traore is on Tottenham Hotspur’s radar this summer. It is believed that Spurs boss Nuno Espirito Santo is eager to reunite with his former player at North London and is considering a £40m to land him from Wolves before the end of this month.
Traore’s Recent Form At The Molineux Stadium
Traore had a long and grueling campaign with the West Midlands outfit last season but still managed to put in some eye-catching displays as a key member of their attack. The 25-year-old appeared in 41 matches for his current employers in the previous campaign, registering three goals and three assists across all fronts.
The Spaniard caught the eye by averaging 1.2 shots, 1.5 key passes and 4.1 dribbles per 90 minutes in Premier League football. He also interchanged possession quite well out on the wide areas after making 76.3% of his attempted passes in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
Traore has been a good performer for Wolves over the past year but needs to add more goals and assists to his game if he wants to taste success at the highest level. Joining Tottenham could give him the platform to challenge for major trophies, so the player could be tempted to leave Wolves during this summer transfer window.
Can Wolves Afford To Lose Traore This Summer?
Traore is currently one of the quickest players in European football and can often turn on the afterburners when attempting to dribble past multiple defenders in the opposition half. He can be an unstoppable force when he is dribbling at full swing and is proficient at creating some decent openings for others around him. However, the Spanish wing wizard has to figure out a way to be more productive in the final third if he wants to take his game to another level.
At the moment, Traore is guaranteed regular first-team football at the Molineux, so Wolves would hope that the promise of regular playing minutes would be enough for them to retain his services beyond this summer.
Bruno Lage simply cannot afford to lose a wide player of Traore’s quality if he wants his side to steer clear of the relegation zone in the Premier League this season. The six-time Spain international has still got two years left to run in his Wolves contract, so Lage is under no immediate pressure to cash in on him this summer.
