In a recent report, Sport mentioned that Barcelona are eyeing a move for Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette this summer. It is believed that the Catalan giants have identified the French striker as an ideal target along with his Arsenal teammate, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Lacazette’s Impressive Numbers In English Football Last Season
Lacazette had a productive season with the Gunners recently as he managed to put in several important goal-scoring performances for them over the past 12 months. The 30-year-old banged in 17 goals and grabbed three assists in 43 matches for the North London outfit in the previous campaign across various competitions.
The Lyon-born sensation deserves a pat on the back for averaging 1.5 shots, 0.7 key passes and 0.7 dribbles per 90 minutes in the 2020-21 Premier League season. He was also relatively tidy with his ball distribution after making 78.8% of his attempted passes in the English top tier (stats via whoscored).
The Frenchman is under contract at the Emirates Stadium until the end of this campaign, so Mikel Arteta might be forced to sell him before the transfer deadline later this month or else risk losing him as a free agent next summer.
What Will The French Striker Bring To The Nou Camp?
Lacazette can use his quickness and agility to get in behind the opponent’s backline and can cause a lot of problems for his marker in the final third. He can be a lethal finisher in front of the opposition goal when he is playing regularly on the field.
The French sensation can even set up a few inviting chances for others around him. However, Lacazette has missed a lot of significant matches for Arsenal in recent seasons, so maybe the time is right for the Gunners to cash in on him this summer.
We can expect Lacazette to bring more pace and goals to Ronald Koeman’s attack. Plus, he could potentially form a dangerous attacking partnership with Memphis Depay at the Nou Camp in the coming seasons. Hence, Barca would be wise to bring him on board before the transfer window slams shut as he will undoubtedly enhance the quality of their match-day squad and could even help them challenge for some major silverware over the next few years.
