Wolverhampton Wanderers will face off against Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Saturday afternoon as they try to secure a positive result away from home. Wolves suffered a 1-0 defeat in a pre-season friendly game against Celta Vigo last weekend, so Bruno Lage will demand a positive response from his players when they travel to the East Midlands for this exciting derby later this week.
The Wolves boss will set his side up in a 3-4-3 formation and is expected to opt for his strongest available first-team this weekend. A lot of eyes will be on Raul Jimenez, who is set to return to Premier League action after a long injury layoff.
3-4-3 Wolves Predicted Lineup To Face Leicester City
Defence
Jose Sa will play as the West Midlands outfit’s primary keeper as he looks to impress and secure a clean sheet on the road. Lage could choose to go with a back three of Max Kilman, Conor Coady and Romain Saïss for this game as the centre-back trio look to keep Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy quiet throughout the 90 minutes.
All three of them will have to retain possession well and keep things solid at the back if Wolves are to come out on top this Saturday. Willy Boly is unlikely to recover in time for this game which will be a big blow for Lage.
Midfield
Ruben Neves and Joao Moutinho will once again anchor the midfield for the Midlands club as they focus on creating some decent plays for others around them. Fernando Marçal will operate as the left wing-back while Nelson Semedo looks to catch the eye down the right flank. Both of them will be given the freedom to get to the byline and whip in some inviting crosses into the Leicester penalty box.
Morgan Gibbs-White will offer cover for the central midfield positions on the Wolves bench.
Attack
Adama Traore is likely to get another shot to shine as the left-sided attacker while Trincao could make his Wolves debut on the right. As mentioned earlier, Raul Jimenez will spearhead Lage’s attack down the middle. The Mexican marksman will be eager to get his name on the scoresheet and kick off the new season in a positive fashion this weekend.
