Celtic recovered from back to back defeats with a midweek win against FK Jablonec. They hosted Dundee this afternoon at Celtic Park and gaffer Ange Postecoglou made a few changes by dropping the underperformers from the starting lineup. It turned out to be a stellar show as the Hoops registered an exquisite 6-0 victory exhibiting their supremacy all over the pitch.
Below are the Celtic players rated in their commanding win against Dundee.
Joe Hart: 7
Made a couple of routine saves. Was mostly untested between the sticks as the visitors posed rare attacking threats against the run of play.
Anthony Ralston: 9
Stunning once again as he was not only spot on with his tackles but also effective enough high up the pitch with his overlapping runs and cut insides. Linked up well with Abada down the right, also fired in majestically after picking up James Forrest’s delivery late in the match.
Stephen Welsh: 7.5
Returned to action replacing erroneous Nir Bitton at the heart of the backline. Looked comfortable with the ball on his feet as he played it out from the back with sheer expertise. Came close to finding the net from set-piece situations.
Carl Starfelt: 7.5
Settling down well with time and the game this afternoon helped him build up the momentum. Played a lot of passes alongside Welsh and was quick to make recoveries despite losing a few duels.
Greg Taylor: 7
Balanced display from the left even though he struggled at times to snatch the ball from the opponents. Performed his defensive duties, also made some timely overlapping runs to make his presence known high up the pitch. Made way for Adam Montgomery midway through the second half.
Callum McGregor: 8.5
Dominated the game from the centre of the pitch. Impressed with his holding game, crucial tackles and tactical fouls. Regained possession time and again which unsettled Dundee’s game.
Tom Rogic: 8
Handed a start in a slightly deeper role and the Aussie playmaker showed some glimpses of his class with smart one-twos and swift movements to link up in the attacking third. Picked up Christie’s pass to slot it into the back of the net minutes into the second half. Got replaced by James Forrest minutes over the hour mark.
Liel Abada: 8.5
Outstanding once again from the right-hand flank with his pace, flashy skills and footwork. His cross from the wide was converted by Furuhashi to break the deadlock around the 20th-minute mark. Tested Adam Legzdins in Dundee goal a couple of times.
David Turnbull: 8
Had a few attempts denied by the Dee custodian but was impressive in the build-ups on a number of occasions. His work rate in midfield opened up space and resulted in opportunities from in and around the box.
Ryan Christie: 9
Another stunning display from the Scotsman as he continued his outrageous form with three assists from the left-hand flank. Celtic must do everything to tie him down to a long-term deal.
Kyogo Furuhashi: 10
A dream home debut for the Japanese sensation who scored a hat-trick and received a standing ovation from the supporters before making way for Odsonne Edouard midway through the second half. Postecoglou has hit a jackpot by exploring his J1 League contacts.
Celtic Subs Vs Dundee
James Forrest: 7.5
A productive cameo from the Scotsman who set it up for Ralston’s stunning goal to make it 5-0 late in the match.
Odsonne Edouard: 7.5
Found the net in the closing moments which should lift his confidence after an underwhelming start.
Adam Montgomery: 6.5
A good few minutes for the teenager who is being viewed as the understudy to Taylor until new signings arrive.
