Italy locked horns with Spain at the Wembley Stadium earlier tonight, hoping to pick up a win and progress into the finals of the UEFA Euro 2020 campaign. Federico Chiesa broke the deadlock around the 60-minute-mark as he curled his shot past Unai Simon into the far bottom corner. Alvaro Morata’s clam finished made it 1-1; however, the Italians won 4-2 on penalties.
Let’s take a look at how each Italian player fared during the clash against Spain.
Italy Players Rated In Win Vs Spain
Gianluigi Donnarumma 7
Donnarumma was called into action time and again, but he did his job well throughout the game. However, he made some silly mistakes in the first half as he kept giving the ball away from goal-kicks.
Giovanni Di Lorenzo 7
The Napoli right-back hardly put a foot wrong throughout the game. He defended well and tried his best to stop the Spain attackers from creating trouble down the right flank.
Leonardo Bonucci 8
The Juventus centre-back made numerous important tackles and clearances to help his side keep things tidy at the back.
Giorgio Chiellini 8
Chiellini paired well with Bonucci at the heart of Italy’s defence and put up a commanding display tonight. He made some match-winning blocks to help his side stay in the game.
Emerson Palmieri 8
The Chelsea wing-back had some big boots to fill tonight, but it’d be an understatement to say that he lived up to the expectations. He created a couple of big chances over the course of the game and fared well defensively as well.
Nicolo Barella 6.5
The Inter Milan midfielder put up a high-intensity performance at the centre of the park as he exhibited a tremendous work rate over the course of the game. However, he lost the ball way too frequently.
Jorginho 7
The Chelsea starlet didn’t really get much time on the ball tonight to make a difference. However, some of his movements off the ball were quite impressive.
Marco Verratti 7
Similar to Jorginho, Verratti was put under tremendous pressure every time he got on the ball, so he didn’t get too many opportunities. He also kept his composure to convert the last spot-kick.
Federico Chiesa 8.5
The Juventus winger broke the deadlock around the 60-minute-mark as he displayed his world-class finishing skills from the end of the penalty area.

Ciro Immobile 7.5
The Lazio striker worked tremendously hard over the 90 minutes to draw the defenders towards himself to create some space for his teammates. He even played a major role in the build-up to Chiesa’s goal.
