In a recent tweet, renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano claimed that Manchester United are in talks to recruit Rennes midfielder Eduardo Camavinga this summer. Rennes would be open to negotiate on potential €30m fee – as they’d lose Camavinga for free next summer. 🇫🇷
He’s one of Man Utd long term targets – PSG have always been interested too.

Camavinga’s Impressive Season At Roazhon Park
Camavinga enjoyed another solid campaign with Rennes as he produced a handful of promising displays for them at the centre of the park. The French youngster found the back of the net once and grabbed three assists in 39 appearances for his current employers last season across all fronts.
The 18-year-old took great strides towards improving himself over the past 12 months based on his average of 2.8 tackles, 0.7 interceptions, 0.7 shots, 0.6 key passes and 1.2 dribbles per 90 minutes in the 2020-21 Ligue 1 campaign. He even distributed the ball with conviction after making 89% of his attempted passes in league football (stats via whoscored).
Camavinga has got less than a year left to run in his Rennes contract, so Man United should be optimistic about their chances of arranging a cut-price deal to bring him to the Theatre of Dreams during this summer transfer window.
Is Camavinga The Right Choice For The Red Devils This Summer?
Camavinga can be an influential presence at both ends of the field as he has got the energy and strength to be a dominant two-way player at the centre of the park. He loves to get stuck in with a few tackles to disrupt the opposition’s flow in the game and can also complete some powerful dribbles from midfield.
The French whizkid is a tidy passer of the ball and has got the vision to orchestrate some decent chances for his teammates up top. However, at 18, he is still quite inexperienced and still has a lot to learn before he can taste success at the highest level.
Man United could be an ideal home for Camavinga this summer as he will get a chance to play with some of the best talents in world football. We can expect the talented youngster to add more bite and steel to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s midfield department. Plus, the Rennes prospect could serve as a perfect long-term successor to Paul Pogba, whose contract at Old Trafford runs out at the end of next season.
There is no doubt that Camavinga will increase competition for places within Solskjaer’s match-day squad which makes him a great choice for the Red Devils to consider for the long run. The French starlet will even help Man United challenge for multiple trophies in the coming seasons as he is more than capable of clinching a regular starting spot in Solskjaer’s first team for the domestic cup competitions.
