In a recent report, The Daily Mail has stated that West Ham United are among several clubs hoping to sign Inter Milan starlet Martin Satriano this summer. It is understood that the Hammers could face competition from Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Everton in pursuit of the Uruguayan centre-forward in this off-season (via The Daily Mail).
Satriano’s Recent Rise In Italian Football
Satriano has caught the eye with his performances for Inter Milan Primavera since making a switch from Nacional at the start of 2020. He managed to find some consistency in terms of his offensive productivity in youth football last season
The Uruguayan youngster banged in 15 goals and provided nine assists in 34 appearances for Inter Milan Primavera in the previous campaign across multiple competitions. At such a young age, the 20-year-old has already started to make a name for himself in Italian football.
However, Satriano is yet to make an appearance in Serie A, so only time will tell whether he will be able to taste some top-flight football in the upcoming campaign. A switch to West Ham could appeal to the player as he will have a good chance to get some valuable playing minutes at the highest level as Michail Antonio remains David Moyes’ only recognized senior forward.
Is Satriano A Prospect For The Future?
Satriano is a quick and agile striker who can make some well-timed runs behind the opponent’s backline. The Montevideo-born sensation usually works his socks off when he is leading the line for his team up top and can strike the ball with power and precision from close range.
The Uruguayan whizkid has proven himself to be a decent finisher in youth football and can also contribute by picking up his fair share of assists. However, he still has a lot to learn before he is ready to play top-flight football week in week out.
The early signs have been quite encouraging from Satriano, so he will be an excellent, long-term acquisition for West Ham this summer. Moyes has the experience to oversee the Inter Milan prospect’s development and get the best out of him at the London Stadium in the coming seasons.
However, at the moment, Satriano is nowhere near good enough to compete with Antonio for a place in the Hammers starting XI. Even then, there is no denying that he will be a prospect to watch out for in the future as he has the potential to become a top goal-getter at the highest level.
