The United Kingdom bookies Skybet (via Liverpool Echo) have made Liverpool the favorites to recruit Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Florian Neuhaus this summer. Skybet has priced the Reds at 13/8 to secure the services of the German playmaker during this summer transfer window (via Liverpool Echo).
Neuhaus’s Excellent Form At Borussia-Park Last Season
Neuhaus gave a good account of himself at the centre of the Monchengladbach midfield and managed to put in some memorable displays for his current employers last season. The 24-year-old banged in eight goals and secured eight assists in 45 appearances for the German outfit in the previous campaign across all fronts.
The German midfield ace deserves credit for influencing the game at both ends of the field in Europe where he averaged 3.0 tackles, 1.1 interceptions, 1.0 clearances, 1.3 shots, 1.0 key passes and 1.3 dribbles per game in the UEFA Champions League. He even distributed the ball with conviction after making 85.6% of his attempted passes in European football (stats via whoscored).
The way Neuhaus has been playing of late, it is no surprise to see the bookmakers make Liverpool the leading candidate to sign him this summer. The German sensation will enjoy playing under a world-class manager like Jurgen Klopp and could serve as a perfect replacement for Georginio Wijnaldum at Anfield.
Will Neuhaus Be The Right Fit For The Reds This Summer?
Neuhaus can unlock the opposition defence with a killer pass in the attacking end of the pitch. He works his socks off for the benefit of his side and can contribute by doing a little bit of everything in midfield. The German international doesn’t take too many chances with his clearances and has got the tenacity to earn possession back for his team. He can also make some energetic runs with the ball towards the opponent’s penalty box.
A two-way midfielder like Neuhaus will be a shrewd addition to the Reds squad as he ticks all the right boxes in terms of what Klopp demands from his midfielders. He will fit into Liverpool’s style of play quite well and could provide some serious competition for the likes of Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Curtis Jones for a place in Klopp’s match-day squad. Plus, the German talent prefers to operate as a box-to-box midfielder but can also fill in as a left-sided winger if required.
At 24, Neuhaus is about to enter the peak stage of his playing career, so we can expect to see the best out of him at Anfield in the coming seasons if the Merseyside outfit can figure out a way to get him on board before the start of the new campaign.
