Earlier this week, the Los Blancos released a statement confirming that Sergio Ramos would leave the club.
“Real Madrid announces that tomorrow, Thursday 17 June, at 12:30 pm, an act of tribute and farewell to our captain Sergio Ramos will be held, which will be attended by our president Florentino Perez.”
“Sergio Ramos will then appear before the media in a virtual press conference.”
Manchester United Keen On Signing Sergio Ramos: What Will The Defensive Ace Bring To The Theatre Of Dreams?
The 180-times Spain international has spent nearly one and a half-decade at the Spanish capital, bagging 671 appearances in all competitions, winning 22 trophies over the course of his stay. So, it goes without saying that Ramos would bring plenty of experience to the English side and help them build a winning mentality.
However, the former Sevilla man failed to finish the 2020/21 season on a high note as he was limited to just 15 La Liga appearances due to an unfortunate injury.
Manchester United Keen On Signing Sergio Ramos: Can he Solve Solskjaer’s Defensive Problems?
Given the present circumstances, signing a quality centre-back should be the board’s first priority, as it’s beyond any doubt that the Red Devils certainly need to upgrade their options at the back. Ole Gunnar Solksjaer is reportedly looking for an experienced centre-back to try and solve their issues at the back – and Sergio Ramos fits the bill perfectly.
Despite being 35, the Spain international still has a lot to offer, and if Solskjaer ends up securing his signature, he’ll play a crucial role in stabilizing United’s defence next season.
