In a recent report, Le10Sport has mentioned that Real Madrid are keeping a keen eye on Sevilla defender Jules Kounde this summer. It is understood that Los Blancos could lose both Sergio Ramous and Raphael Varane this summer and are eyeing a move for the French centre-back to strengthen their defence in this off-season (via Le10Sport).
Kounde’s Decent Run Of Form At Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium
Kounde has enjoyed another solid campaign with Los Palanganas after producing a run of commanding performances at the heart of their backline. The 22-year-old played in 49 matches for the Spanish club last season, netting four goals and providing one assist in all competitions.
The Paris-born sensation has proven his worth as a capable centre-half by averaging 0.8 tackles, 1.2 interceptions, 2.9 clearances, 0.6 shots and 0.9 dribbles per 90 minutes in La Liga. Kounde even distributed the ball with a lot of conviction based on his pass success rate of 90.1% in the Spanish top tier (stats via whoscored).
The French talent is playing at a high level at the moment and could turn out to be an excellent acquisition for Los Blancos if they can find a way to lure him to the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium during this summer transfer window.
What Will The French Central Defender Add To Carlo Ancelotti’s Side?
Kounde has decent pace in his locker and can make some crucial recovering runs at the back. He is quick to scan the danger and is not shy of clearing his lines when in danger of being exposed inside his half. The Frenchman can time his challenges well to secure the ball back for his team. Plus, he is an excellent passer of the ball and can step up to make some composed runs with the ball in the opposition half.
A central defender of Kounde’s quality will be a brilliant option for Carlo Ancelotti to consider this summer. He will add a lot of quality to Real Madrid’s defensive department and could serve as an ideal replacement for Sergio Ramos at the Bernabeu in the long run.
At 22, Kounde is in for a very bright future in European football and would also add a lot of long-term value to the Madrid club. Hence, Ancelotti should think about trying everything in his power to seal a move for the Sevilla youngster before the start of the new campaign.
