Teenage Playmaker Reportedly Pens Five-Year Contract To Join Liverpool: One For The Future?

In a recent tweet, renowned journalist Saddick Adams revealed that Steadfast FC playmaker Fatawu Abdul Issahaku has penned a five-year contract to join Liverpool this summer. It is understood that the Reds have reportedly agreed on a fee of around £1.5m for the talented youngster.

Issahaku’s Impressive Rise In Ghanaian Football

Issahaku has caught the eye with his performances for his local club, Steadfast FC and deserves a lot of credit for winning the MVP award in the last edition of the Africa U-20 Cup of Nations. The Ghanaian whizkid has already shown plenty of signs of his incredible potential and could enjoy playing in Liverpool’s new academy where he will have access to some of the best facilities and equipment in European football.

The 17-year-old is primarily an attacking midfielder but is versatile enough to play anywhere across the frontline. He loves to pull off some quick sprints in the opposition half and is quite capable of filling in as a winger if needed.

The early signs have been quite encouraging for Issahaku but the jury is still out on whether he has what it takes to succeed at a club like Liverpool, where he will have to cope with the high expectations surrounding his performances for the Merseyside club’s youth teams.

Is Issahaku A Prospect For The Future?

Issahaku has proven his worth for Ghana’s Under-20 team by banging in two goals in six appearances for them thus far. He has a knack for scoring a few important goals in the final third and can use his quickness to cause all kinds of problems for his marker.

The Ghanaian sensation can be a hard man to stop when left isolated in a 1v1 foot chase with the opposition but still has a lot to learn before he is ready to taste senior football at the highest level. If the report about Issahaku’s decision to pen a long-term deal with the Reds is true, Jurgen Klopp has enough reasons to be optimistic about such a signing as Issahaku could potentially grow into a future star at Anfield.

Klopp has proven time and time again that he is ready to give a chance to some of his young players if they are good enough to perform at a high level on the field. Hence, we can expect Issahaku to be in for a very bright future in English football. All in all, the Ghanaian youngster will be a prospect to watch out for in the long run but only if he can continue to develop his game in the coming seasons.
