Arsene Wenger has made it known that Arsenal won’t be signing a new player to replace Santi Cazorla. The midfield maestro will undergo a surgery and has been ruled out for three months. He hasn’t featured in this month and recent reports revealed that the Spaniard needs a surgery to be completely fit.
The 31-year-old midfielder had injured his ankle while playing against Ludogorets in the Champions League. Although the Gunners have a number of midfielders with the likes of Granit Xhaka, Aaron Ramsey, Mohamed Elneny and Francis Coquelin, Cazorla’s injury will be a bigger concern for Arsenal as they are approaching towards the most vital part of the season.
The gaffer said, “For me it (Cazorla’s injury) is very bad news, I always try and avoid surgery, it creates a lot of anxiety and rehab.
“This time it’s unfortunate that we have to draw that conclusion. He’s out for at least two months, but that could go up to three. You have the date for surgery, but not the date for his return. Santi is desperate to play, he’s only happy on the football pitch.
We have a lot of midfielders. In January you would not necessarily find a Cazorla, even if we wanted to.”
