Rumoured Rangers target Joey Veerman (as claimed by the Dutch outlet Voetbal International ) has been suggested to stay put in Eredivisie and continue to flourish with precious minutes over leaving for the Glasgow giants. His former boss Robert Molenaar is aware of the potential, however, a few things have been highlighted by the ex-Leeds United and Bradford City defender.
“If he stayed in Holland, he would remain in his normal surroundings and I think that would be kinder for him as he looks to make another step up.
“But I think if he were to go to Ajax, PSV or Feyenoord and adapt like he did when he moved to Heerenveen, then there will be even more teams for him to pick from after that.
“The defensive side of the game is his Achilles heel. He won’t take the ball off the opponent too much because he’s more of a number 10. If a move to Scotland did not work, that would be why.”
Said the former FC Volendam chief who handed the 22-year-old his senior debut prior to his move to Heerenveen a couple of summers ago (as quoted by the Daily Record).

Veerman has drawn the attention of many suitors for his expertise as an attacking playmaker. His ability to feature in multiple midfield roles makes him a perfect fit for modern-day football. He is hailed for his holding traits, vision, concentration, set-piece attributes, distribution and passing traits.
The Gers, meanwhile, have opted not to make Bongani Zungu’s loan move permanent, yet they have an array of midfield options in their ranks. Moreover, Nnamdi Ofoborh is set to join on a Bosman move having signed a pre-contract back in winter and Steven Gerrard, thus, would have plenty of options to select from with Champions League football back at Ibrox.
However, Joey Veerman would offer more creative spark in and around the box. His stakes are high at this moment and a valuation of around £8.5m must have complicated things further for many including PSV Eindhoven. It’s a huge amount for the Bears too and it is to be seen now whether they decide to splash the cash and add a new dimension in the middle of the park.
