Barcelona have had one of the worst seasons in recent years and have managed to win only the Copa del Rey trophy amidst a poor and shaky performance in La Liga. It will not be harsh to assume that a lot of backroom activity is set to take place in the transfer market. This will provide plenty of incomings and outgoings in the summer transfer window. If you are betting in canada, our suggestion would be to double down on at least 5+ incomings.
The club is also burdened under massive debts and it looks like it’s time to draw the curtains at Barcelona for a couple of players who are simply no longer the right fit. Poor form, reckless errors and lack of zeal are common traits amongst this list curated by The 4th Official for the three players who should be leaving Barcelona this summer –
Clement Lenglet
Lenglet was brought to the Camp Nou on the back of an impressive season with La Liga giants Sevilla. However, the player’s form and performances have been downhill ever since his switch to the Catalan side. Clement has made several blunders in the back-line this season which have cost Barcelona dear points on a very frequent basis.
The player is simply not good enough for a club of Barcelona’s stature that competes amongst the best of clubs in Europe each season. The manager certainly needs someone who is far more reliable at the back and less prone to mistakes. This summer seems like the right way for the two parties involved to part ways.
Sergi Roberto
After missing a large chunk of the current season due to injuries, Roberto no longer seems like the player he once used to be. The player has been clumsy since his return on a couple of occasions. Roberto’s passing has been a massive let down and he has also been caught napping in possession of the ball by his opponents.
Roberto seems like one of those players at Camp Nou who is staying put just on the basis of one historic performance (winning goal against Paris-Saint Germain in the UEFA Champions League). To make matters worse, Roberto is also one of the captains in the squad and he just does not feel like a right fit at Camp Nou anymore. It is time for the club to acquire more fresh and young talent like Pedri, around whom a team can be prepared which could dominate La Liga for the years to come.
Samuel Umtiti
The Frenchman was considered to be amongst the best in the World following his World Cup triumph with France. However, poor form and a string of injuries have led to his imminent decline. Umtiti is a shadow of a defender he once used to be and no longer seems like the right match for a club of Barcelona’s status.
Umtiti has even fallen behind in the pecking order to La Masia graduates like Ronald Araujo and Oscar Mingueza. The two youngsters are often preferred to the World Cup winner and that should be reason enough for him to seek greener pastures. Even when given a chance, Umtiti has failed to live up to the expectations of his manager.
