Olivier Giroud could be available against West Ham United on Saturday, Arsene Wenger has revealed.
The French striker was not involved in Arsenal’s 2-1 loss in the hand of Southampton in the EFL Cup quarterfinal. Lucas Perez started up front after coming back from an injury layoff. Wenger already has a few tough decisions to take as Santi Cazorla is still recovering from an injury while Danny Welbeck is on the verge of return.
Giroud was not available for selection as he suffered a groin injury against Bournemouth. Earlier it was feared that the Frenchman might have to spend another lengthy spell on the sidelines but Wenger confirmed that the injury wasn’t serious, “Giroud is short, but has a chance to be available for Saturday.”
Santi Cazorla who picked up a knock during the 6-0 win against Ludogorets is set to miss another match. Wenger confirmed that Mohamed Elneny who had to be subbed off during the EFL Cup defeat has a stomach problem.
“Cazorla I don’t know, honestly. It’s just inflammation. It can go in two days, two weeks – I don’t know.
“He has no setback, the inflammation is just still here. At the moment, it’s stable.”
