Real Madrid will be hoping to resume their title pursuit this week with a victory over Osasuna. Los Blancos have played out three consecutive draws including two of them in the Primera Division. Matchday 34 will see Real Madrid play host to the relegation-threatened opposition at the Alfredo de Stefano Stadium.
Zidane’s five at the back formation has not yielded the right results and it seems like the right moment for the Frenchman to resort to a 4-3-3 formation with Ferland Mendy poised to return this week. Nothing short of a victory is expected out of Real Madrid this weekend.
The Whites will be braced with the return of a couple of key stars ahead of the Osasuna clash. Mendy, Valverde, and Ramos are all expected to be back in the mix this weekend. However, Lucas Vasquez is completely ruled out of the fixture and will not be involved in the proceedings. Here’s how Real Madrid could take to the field on Saturday evening at the Alfredo de Stefano Stadium –
Real Madrid Predicted Line-Up Against Osasuna
Defense
Thibaut Courtois will take charge in goal after a sloppy evening against Chelsea where he was unable to hold onto a clean sheet. Dani Carvajal will start at the right-back position. The full-back has recently made his return from a prolonged spell on the sidelines and will be looking to rub off the rust a bit before Madrid return to Champions League action. Raphael Varane will be partnered by Eder Militao in the heart of Madrid’s defence. Real’s latest defensive duo have delivered the goods even in the absence of Sergio Ramos. Nacho Fernandez is most likely to get the nod for the left-back position. Ferland Mendy could feature in the match from the substitutes bench.
Midfield
Toni Kroos and Luka Modric will be starting in the centre of the pitch as always. The duo’s potential was not fully unleashed against Chelsea and a turnaround would be expected at Stamford Bridge next week. Casemiro will start just ahead of the defensive line, acting as a constant guard. Real Madrid can not afford to drop any further points in the league if they plan to defend their honor and it’s time this midfield trident pulls up their socks. Federico Valverde and Isco could be deployed by Zidane in the second half.
Attack
Marco Asensio will start on the right-hand side of the attack. The Spaniard’s performances in recent weeks have been rather mediocre and he was even dropped to the bench in the UEFA Champions League in midweek. Karim Benzema will be occupying the number nine role without a doubt. The striker netted his 28th goal of the season against Chelsea and the Santiago Bernabeu faithful will be hoping for more. Eden Hazard will start on the left-wing ahead of Vinicius Jr.
