Everton will welcome Aston Villa at Goodison Park on Saturday night as they try to secure a positive result at home and make up some ground in the Premier League top-four race. The Toffees managed to earn an impressive 1-0 victory over Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium last weekend which will give them a lot of momentum going into this exciting league clash versus the Villans.
Carlo Ancelotti will set his team up in a 4-3-3 formation but might have to do without the services of Michael Keane, who is still recovering from his thigh injury. The Merseyside outfit are expected to be unchanged for this game.
4-3-3 Everton Predicted Lineup To Face Aston Villa
Defence
Jordan Pickford will operate in goal for the Toffees after keeping a clean sheet against the Gunners in his last league outing. Mason Holgate will resume his defensive partnership with Ben Godfrey at the heart of the Everton backline as they look to neutralise the threat of Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins throughout the game.
Seamus Coleman will function as the right-back while Lucas Digne looks to put in a productive display on the other side as the left-back. Ancelotti will ask both of them to stop the Villans from getting in behind them out on the wide areas.
Yerry Mina and Niels Nkounkou will provide cover for the defensive positions on Ancelotti’s bench.
Midfield
Andre Gomes, Allan and James Rodriguez will make up the Everton midfield this weekend. Both Gomes and Allan will have to retain possession well at the centre of the park and also offer some protection for their teammates at the back.
Rodriguez could be given the freedom to operate in a free-flowing, box to box midfield role as he focuses on engineering some inviting opportunities for the front players to score. Tom Davies will have to be content with a place on the bench as he waits for his chance to shine as a substitute in the second half if needed.
Attack
Gylfi Sigurdsson could fill in as a makeshift left-winger while Richarlison hopes to catch the eye from the right. Dominic Calvert-Lewin will get the responsibility to spearhead Ancelotti’s attack up top. The goals have dried up for the English marksman in recent weeks, so he has to figure out a way to be more unforgiving with his finishing in the attacking third.
Joshua King will be named on the bench but might come on to make an impact in the latter stages if Ancelotti decides to call upon his services.
