According to football agent Stefano Castelnuovo (as told to Calciomercato back in January), Manchester City are monitoring his client Manuel Locatelli over a potential summer transfer. The Sassuolo star, too, has now opened up on his future and is not ruling out the option of playing abroad.
“Playing abroad is an option for me and at the moment I’m not excluding anything. It’s part of my job and it means that I have raised my level. Certain certificates of esteem and interest from big clubs increase my motivations and make me understand I’m on the right track.”
Revealed the 23-year-old Azzurri international while speaking to Corriere dello Sport (as claimed by the Manchester Evening News).
Why Manchester City Are Keeping Close Tabs On Locatelli
The youngster progressed through the youth ranks of AC Milan and went on to make 63 senior appearances before leaving for Sassuolo (on loan with an obligation to buy) back in the summer of 2018. He handed a transfer request for the lack of trust shown by his boyhood club.
Having failed to keep hold of their prized asset, Milan should be repenting for the transfer blunder. Locatelli is tipped to make it big with early signs of midfield mastery. In the market for a deep-lying playmaker, City must have identified him as the long-term successor of Fernandinho.
The Brazilian’s illustrious City career is set to end upon the completion of the current campaign. Pep Guardiola has ample options all over the pitch, but the Citizens’ financial supremacy is likely to result in an instant replacement to maintain depth as well as quality. They are chasing the quadruple this season, having progressed through to the semis of the Champions League. However, the spending has not stopped and is still continuing ever since the Middle East takeover back in 2008.
Why The Youngster Is A Perfect Fit Deep Down The Midfield
Manchester City are monitoring Manuel Locatelli for his ability to orchestrate the game from deep down the pitch. He is creative, holds great passing ability and shooting traits along with dribbling, holding as well as tackling attributes. The young ace can be labelled as the ‘Regista’ of the modern game and his arrival would bolster the Manchester blues en route to dominating English football.
