Manchester City will take on Chelsea at Wembley Stadium on Saturday afternoon as they look to keep their quadruple hopes alive by picking up a win in the FA Cup semifinals. The Mancunian giants managed to secure a hard-fought 2-1 victory against Borussia Dortmund in midweek, so they will be full of confidence ahead of this weekend’s showdown versus the Blues.
Pep Guardiola will opt for a 4-3-3 formation and is expected to make a lot of changes to his team for this highly anticipated cup game at the English capital. Aymeric Laporte, Joao Cancelo and Fernandinho could all start after they were rested in midweek.
4-3-3 Manchester City Predicted Lineup To Face Chelsea
Defence
Zack Steffen started in the FA Cup quarterfinals, so Guardiola might name him again as his first-team keeper in the semifinal showdown against the Blues this weekend. Aymeric Laporte is likely to get a chance to resume his centre-back partnership with Ruben Dias as they try to keep the Chelsea attackers at bay during the 90 minutes.
Kyle Walker will get the nod to function at right-back while Joao Cancelo looks to impress on the other flank as the left-back. Guardiola could instruct both of them to pick and choose their moments to get forward and join in on the attack.
John Stones and Oleksandr Zinchenko will be available for selection on the Man City bench as they provide cover for the defensive positions.
Midfield
Ilkay Gundogan, Fernandinho and Kevin De Bruyne could make up the Man City midfield this Saturday as Guardiola looks to freshen things up at the centre of the park. Fernandinho will be responsible for anchoring the midfield while both Gundogan and De Bruyne carries the creative and goal-scoring workload in the opposition half.
Bernardo Silva and Rodri will have to settle for a place on the bench but could come on to make an impact in the second half if required.
Attack
Raheem Sterling is expected to start as the left-sided winger while Riyad Mahrez looks to build on his goal-scoring performance from midweek by putting on a good show from the right flank. Gabriel Jesus will probably get the license to lead the charge for the Mancunian giants down the middle.
Phil Foden and Ferran Torres will be named on the bench as they wait for their chance to shine as the late-game substitutes if needed.
