Foden Gets 9, Stones With 7 | Manchester City Players Rated In Win Vs Borussia Dortmund

Manchester City entertained Borussia Dortmund earlier tonight, hoping to pick up a positive result and proceed into the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League. Jude Bellingham broke the deadlock around the 15-minute-mark as he scored a spectacular goal to put the hosts in lead. Guardiola’s men came close to scoring on several occasions but failed to find the back of the net as they went 1-0 down at half-time. However, Riyad Mahrez and Phil Foden scored two goals in 20 minutes to turn the game on its head in the second half. Having won 4-2 on aggregate, it’s Manchester City who proceed into the semi-finals of the campaign.

Let’s take a look at how each Man City player fared during the match against Borussia Dortmund.

Ederson – 6.5/10

The Brazilian shot-stopper was a spectator for the majority of the match; however, there’s nothing he could have done to prevent Bellingham’s goal.

Kyle Walker – 6.5/10

The English right-back stopped the Dortmund players from creating menace down the right flank. He hardly participated in the attacking gameplay, though.

John Stones – 7/10

Stones was very alert at the back tonight. He made some crucial blocks and interceptions to keep things tidy at the back.

Ruben Dias – 7/10

The Portuguese centre-back could have done better to prevent Jude Bellingham from taking the shot, which led to the first goal of the game. However, apart from that, he put up a solid performance defensively.

Oleksandr Zinchenko – 7/10

The Ukrainian full-back added another dimension to his side’s attack as he made some impressive overlapping runs down the left-hand side.

Rodri – 7.5/10

The Spaniard made some important challenges to put an end to Dortmund’s counter-attacks. He won the ball back on several occasions as well.

Ilkay Gundogan – 7.5/10

The German midfielder’s ball distribution at the centre of the park was impressive, to say the least.

Kevin De Bruyne – 8.5/10

The Belgian international came the closest to scoring the equalizer in the first half as his shot hit the woodwork around the 25-minute-mark. He put up an inspiring performance in the second forty-five minutes as well.

Riyad Mahrez – 8/10

The Algerian winger converted the penalty confidently to score the equalizing goal for the visitors.

Bernardo Silva – 6.5/10

Silva wasn’t much of a threat in attacking terms.

Phil Foden – 9/10

The Englishman’s slick movement down the left flank certainly created a lot of menace for the Dortmund defenders. He created a couple of good chances for his teammates before scoring the winner in the 75th minute.

Raheem Sterling – N/A
