Celtic fans must be still celebrating their 100th major honour that came with a 3-0 win against rivals Aberdeen on Sunday. The Scottish League Cup becomes the first trophy ever to be won by Brendan Rodgers and it seems like there are plenty more to follow. Celtic have an absolute dominance in Scottish football this season and yet to lose a single domestic game. Rodgers’ aim now will be to win an invincible domestic treble. The Hoops face a trip to Fir Park on Saturday to take on Motherwell who are sitting sixth on the table now.
Celtic have an eight-point lead over their nearest rivals Rangers at the top of the table and have played two games lesser than the Gers. They have struggled in Europe but the Premiership seems to be a walk in the park for them.
They have won ten matches on the bounce in the Scottish Premiership and League Cup and have conceded just one goal in the process. That singular goal came in a 6-1 hammering of Kilmarnock in September, and eight domestic matches have been played since then.
Celtic and Motherwell have met twice this season with Celtic winning both games, one 2-0 and another 3-0. Here is the predicted Celtic lineup against Motherwell.
Defence
Scottish custodian Craig Gordon will keep his place under the bar ahead of Dorus de Vries. Erik Sviatchenko will keep his place at the heart of the defence. Jozo Simunovic should start alongside the Dane at the centre. Swedish international Mikael Lustig is likely to start at right-back. Emilio Izaguirre is likely to start at left-back with Kieran Tierney out injured.
Midfield
Skipper Scott Brown is an undisputed choice in the middle of the park. The 31-year-old has been excellent this season for the Hoops with his industrious display in the middle of the park. Callum McGregor is expected to partner the Celtic skipper in the two-man midfield. Aussie attacking midfielder Tom Rogic should start as the number ten and will be at the heart of everything creative for the Scottish champions.
Attack
Scott Sinclair is likely to miss the game with an injury. We, therefore, expect Stuart Armstrong to get a start on his natural left flank position. James Forrest had a brilliant game against Aberdeen in the League cup final and will keep his place on the right flank. French wonderkid Moussa Dembele will start up front and will be looking to add to his tally.
