Manchester United have a host of players out on loan this season, with most of them playing in various leagues across Europe. Here, in this article, we look at five United loanees and how they have been performing this season.
Jesse Lingard – West Ham United
With seven-goal contributions in seven league appearances for the Hammers, it’ll be an understatement to say that Jesse Lingard has hit the ground running at the London stadium.
The 28-year-old’s impressive run of form has earned him a call-up to the national team, and if reports are to be believed, West Ham United will try to land the Englishman on a permanent transfer this summer.
Diogo Dalot – AC Milan
With 25 appearances across all competitions for the Rossoneri, Dalot is having a steady yet impressive season in Italy. The Portugal international has improved his game largely, mostly mastering the offensive abilities, and as a result, his performances have now forced him into a starting contention.
Although Milan are keen on extending the 22-year-old’s stay at the San Siro, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed that he wants him to return once the season ends.
Andreas Pereira – Lazio
Andreas Pereira secured a temporary move away from Old Trafford in the hopes of having a fresh start and proving himself; however, it’ll be fair to say that it has been a disappointing season for him this far.
Having made just two starts in the Serie A this term, the 25-year-old has been far from convincing and has been mostly limited to second-half cameo appearances. With his contract set to expire in 2023, it’ll be interesting to see what Manchester United decide to do with the Belgian in the coming months.
Facundo Pellistri – Alaves
Pellistri started the last few games for Alaves and has looked fairly confident in the wide position.
Ethan Laird – MK Dons
Since his move to the Championship in January, Liard has started in all 16 games for MK Dons, and it’ll be fair to say that he has been in excellent form over the past couple of months or so.
The 19-year-old defender has developed into more of an attacking-minded full-back, often demonstrating his offensive qualities and he should be capable of featuring more regularly for the Red Devils once he returns next season.
However, MK Dons will try and extend his loan deal if possible.
“We love Ethan – he has been fantastic, and he has only improved since he got here. He is really willing to learn, he’s coachable, and he is always smiling – he brings energy and enthusiasm to the club.”
“We’re really pleased with him, as are Manchester United with how he has been treated. If we’re able to keep him next season, we’d be very happy, but we’ll have to wait and see.” Russell Martin revealed.
