According to Tuttomercatoweb, Tottenham Hotspur are monitoring the situation of Aaron Ramsey. The Juventus midfielder is tipped to leave the club in the summer as the Italian giants brace themselves for a potential squad overhaul. Spurs, though, could face stiff competition from Premier League rivals in Liverpool and Everton while Inter Milan are also linked.
Aaron Ramsey’s Fall From Grace At Juventus
Aaron Ramsey joined Juventus back in 2019, in a free transfer from Arsenal. He arrived in Turin in order to fight for the Champions League title as well as play alongside former Premier League icon Cristiano Ronaldo.
Unfortunately, Ramsey’s first season in Serie A did not go particularly well for him as the midfielder struggled with fitness problems during the early parts of the campaign. In addition, Juve’s acquisition of Adrien Rabiot added more competition in midfield, thus making it difficult for the Welshman to make himself a first-team regular under Maurizio Sarri.
Ramsey’s fortunes have not changed under Andrea Pirlo either, even though the midfielder has played significantly more than last season. He has mostly struggled with a lack of consistency, which coincided with Juventus’ struggle as a whole. It has left the board frustrated, with the former Arsenal star likely to be offloaded in the summer.
Is He A Sensible Option For Tottenham?
Tottenham Hotspur’s interest in Aaron Ramsey is hardly surprising as the Lilywhites brace themselves for a little overhaul of their own in the upcoming summer transfer window. Dele Alli, in particular, is facing an uncertain future at the club after failing to win over Jose Mourinho while Giovani Lo Celso has struggled with injuries throughout the course of the campaign.
It forced Spurs to rely on the services of Tanguy Ndombele in the number ten role for a chunk of the season. But in Ramsey, Mourinho will be gifted with an ideal option, who doesn’t only have a lot of Premier League experience under his belt, but can also play in a variety of roles.
Although the Welshman primarily prefers to operate in the attacking midfield slot, he can play out wide and sometimes even as a number eight. It should offer Mourinho some valuable tactical flexibility in the final third.
In addition, the former Cardiff City prodigy is capable of testing the opposition keeper from long range and is ambi-pedal, which makes it easier for him to rotate possession quickly, even under tight pressure.
His arrival, therefore, would certainly take some of the creative burden off the likes of Ndombele and Lo Celso, and with the Bianconeri desperate to offload him, Ramsey could indeed be a bargain for Tottenham this summer.
