Recent reports from The Sun suggest that Manchester City are interested in signing Brazilian wonder kid Kayky from Fluminense for a fee of around £21m as Pep Guardiola looks set to add to his attacking options. Often compared to the likes of Neymar and Ronaldo, the majority of the reports say that the 17-year-old is an extraordinary talent.
While the fee might seem to be a lot for a player who hasn’t even made his senior debut yet, Guardiola looks entirely confident about the youngster’s full potential and might bring him under his wings in the upcoming transfer window.
What’s So Special About Him?
Having come through the ranks at Brazilian club Fluminense, Kayky regularly featured for the U-17 side in the Brasileirao. With attributes like pace, dribbling and agility, the youngster can get past his defenders with utmost ease. It’d be fair to say that one-on-one situations are his speciality. Besides, he possesses the ability to pick out players in goal-scoring positions via his inch-perfect crosses, which often makes chance creation and conversion a lot easier for his team.
“Kayky is a player who stands out a lot for his technical quality, especially with regard to one-on-ones, and also in his quality in front of goal.” Fluminense’s U17 coach, Guilherme Torres, told Goal.
“He is also very intelligent, searches for empty spaces on the field and has a good ability to provide assists for his team-mates.”
“In addition, he has a winning, competitive mentality, which is important for a high-level player. His resilience has grown as he has matured, and he is learning how to deal with adversity.”
With tremendous will power and a God-gifted left-foot, the future holds bright for the young Samba star.
Is he Worth The Risk?
Well, given the amount of money City are reportedly willing to invest, it’s hardly a risk. Phil Foden’s development under Guardiola has skyrocketed over the past couple of years, and if Kayky manages to follow Foden’s footsteps, he’d be a huge success. The best place to carry on with his overall development is under Pep Guardiola, and it won’t be surprising if City splash the clash on the Brazilan youngster this summer.
