In a recent interview with Football Insider, former Premier League goalkeeper Paul Robinson has urged Liverpool to land Juventus forward Paulo Dybala. Robinson believes that the Argentine forward will be a great option to play the false-nine role for the Reds as he said,
“Dybala is a world-class player, what a signing he would be.
“He would be a massive addition to any squad.
“It is very hard to find players who can join or disrupt Liverpool’s front three. They have misfired this year but Jota has come in and has forced Jurgen Klopp’s hand into playing all four of them at times.
“The front three are not invincible, they have been nowhere near the level of performance of previous years so someone like Dybala coming in would add another dimension.
“Liverpool should go for him because he is capable of playing across the front line and he would be a great option as a false nine. He would be phenomenal in that Firmino role.”
Dybala’s Growing Injury Frustrations At Turin
The 27-year-old has endured an injured-ravaged season at the Allianz Stadium but has still managed to catch the eye with a few impressive displays in Italian football. The Laguna Larga-born sensation has managed to net three goals and provide two assists in 16 appearances for Juve this term across various competitions.
Despite his limited playing minutes this season, Dybala deserves credit for averaging 2.6 shots, 1.8 key passes and 1.4 dribbles per 90 minutes in Serie A. He has even taken care of the ball when distributing it in the attacking third after making 88% of his attempted passes in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
What Will The Argentine Sensation Bring To Merseyside?
Dybala possesses blistering pace in his locker and can get the better of his marker by running in behind them in the final third. He can be a joy to watch when he is dribbling at full speed in the opposition half and can contribute by scoring and setting up his fair share of goals on the offensive end of the field. However, multiple injuries have disrupted his career with Juventus, so maybe this summer could be an ideal time for him to switch clubs in search of more success in the coming seasons.
Is Dybala A Good Option For The Reds?
Dybala has what it takes to flourish playing in Jurgen Klopp’s brand of football at Anfield and could be a decent option for the Premier League champions this summer. He is a pacey and technically gifted who can operate in a similar role to how Firmino conducts himself at Merseyside. The Brazilian striker has struggled to be consistent in terms of his goal-scoring. Hence, it is only logical for Klopp to bring some more competition for him in the form of a striker like Dybala.
However, if the Reds have to give up Firmino to fund a move for the Juventus goal-getter, they should not do so as Dybala is far too injury-prone which makes him a risky acquisition for them to consider in the summer.
