Following their exit from the UEFA Champions League in midweek at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona will be resuming their La Liga title pursuit on Monday evening against Huesca. Camp Nou will be playing host to the 20th placed side on Matchday 27 of the Primera Division.
The Catalans are placed second in the points table, six points behind Atletico Madrid and just two points clear of Real Madrid. Ronald Koeman’s men cannot afford any more slip-ups from here on if they want to keep themselves involved in the title race until the very end.
Barcelona have a handful of players receiving treatment at the medical bay. Gerard Pique, Sergio Roberto, Ansu Fati, Philippe Coutinho, Ronald Araujo and Moussa Wague are all sidelined for Barcelona’s fixture against Huesca and will not even make the bench. Here’s how Barcelona could take to the field on Monday evening –
Barcelona Predicted Line-Up Against Huesca
Defence
Barcelona will be taking to the field with Marc Andre Ter Stegen in goal. The German has made impressive performances this season in goal and will be looking to add to his cleansheet total for the season. Sergino Dest had a bright evening in Paris and will retain his place in the starting eleven. A centre back pairing of Samuel Umtiti and Clement Lenglet is expected to take centre stage at the Camp Nou Stadium. Jordi Alba will be starting at the left-back position. Oscar Mingueza and Junior Firpo could be introduced in the game later on.
Midfield
Sergio Busquets, who has been an ever-present in the Barcelona team, will be a part of the proceedings on Monday evening as well. Pedri will be starting to the left of Busquets in midfield, positioned slightly behind Griezmann in the lineup. Frenkie De Jong will make his return to midfield after starting in defence in midweek. The Dutchman has been in sensational form since the turn of the year and it should be a walk in the park for Frenkie against the 20th placed Huseca side.
Attack
Lionel Messi will be starting on the right-hand side. The Argentine has been in lethal form and his position at the top of the goal scorer’s charts justifies his good run of form. Martin Braithwaite could be rewarded for his performances with a start in the match against Huesca. The player has not been featuring in the starting eleven very often and he would want to make the most of the opportunity. Antoine Griezmann will be starting on the left-hand side of the attacking trio. Ousmane Dembele and Francisco Trincao would be available for Koeman off the bench.
