Chelsea will lock horns with Leeds United at Elland Road on Saturday afternoon, hoping to pick up a win and build upon their impressive form in the Premier League. The Blues registered an impressive 2-0 victory over Everton last week, whereas the Whites fell prey to David Moyes’ men as they lost away from home.
Thomas Tuchel will probably opt for the 3-4-3 formation with a few tweaks from the last game. Mason Mount might get the nod over Kai Havertz, whereas Antonio Rudiger looks likely to make his way back into the starting eleven.
3-4-3 Chelsea Predicted Lineup Vs Leeds United
Defence
Edouard Mendy will continue to operate in between the sticks for the upcoming home encounter. The Senegalese shot-stopper will hope to put up a strong performance and add to his tally of 13 clean sheets on Saturday.
Thiago Silva, who was named on the bench against Everton, is expected to replace Andreas Christensen at the heart of Chelsea’s backline, whereas Antonio Rudiger looks likely to come in for Kurt Zouma. Skipper Cesar Azpilicueta will fulfil the right centre-back position.
However, their prime objective will be to keep Patrick Bamford and Raphinha quiet throughout the ninety minutes.
Midfield
Jorginho and N’Golo Kante will fulfil the holding midfield positions, with the former occupying a more central role. The Italian international put up an impressive performance at the centre of the park last week as he found the back of the net against the Toffees, and he’ll be looking to repeat more of the same this time.
Marcos Alonso might start in the left wing-back position, whereas Reece James will fill in on the other flank as the right wing-back.
Mateo Kovacic will have to settle for a place on the bench, but he might come on in the latter stages of the game if needed.
Attack
Mason Mount and Callum Hudson-Odoi will slot into the attacking midfield roles. The English duo would be determined to set up some clear cut goal-scoring chances for the front-men.
Timo Werner will lead the line for the away side against Leeds United. The German striker has found himself struggling in front of the goal this season, so he’ll be determined to impress against Bielsa’s men.
Olivier Giroud might come on to make a cameo appearance in the second forty-five minutes.
