Everton will lock horns with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Monday evening, hoping to pick up another win in the Premier League. The Toffees managed to grind out a hard-fought 1-0 victory over West Bromwich Albion in midweek, which will keep their momentum ahead of this away encounter at the English capital.
Carlo Ancelotti could opt for a 4-1-2-1-2 formation and is expected to make a couple of changes to his starting XI for this game. Both Gylfi Sigurdsson and Allan will probably get the nod to start at West London at the expense of Bernard and Alex Iwobi.
4-1-2-1-2 Everton Predicted Lineup To Face Chelsea
Defence
Jordan Pickford will retain his spot in goal for the Merseysiders after keeping a clean sheet versus the Baggies in his last league appearance. Ben Godfrey will feature alongside Michael Keane at the heart of the Toffees defence as they try to stop the Chelsea attackers from scoring throughout the 90 minutes.
Mason Holgate will continue to function at right-back while Lucas Digne looks to produce another impressive display as the left-back. Ancelotti will instruct both of them to pick and choose their moments to join in on the attack, but their priority would be to restrict the Blues from getting in behind them out on the wide areas.
Midfield
Allan could come into the Everton first-team to fill in as the defensive midfielder. Andre Gomes and Abdoulaye Doucoure will play just ahead of the Brazilian midfielder as they focus on creating plays for others around them and making some driving runs with the ball towards the Chelsea penalty box.
Gylfi Sigurdsson could get the responsibility to feature as the attacking midfielder after his impressive cameo off the bench versus West Brom earlier this month. The Icelandic international will carry most of the creative burden for his team during this game.
Attack
Dominic Calvert-Lewin will once again lead the line for the Toffees along with Richarlison, who was the match-winner at the Hawthorns, up top. Ancelotti would hope that one of them can get their name on the scoresheet so that Everton has a chance to earn something from this game and make up some ground in the Premier League’s Top Four race.
Joshua King will have to settle for a spot on the bench as he waits for his chance to impress as an impact substitute if needed.
