Manchester City will welcome Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday night as they look to continue their remarkable 20-game winning run across all competitions. Pep Guardiola’s players managed to pick up a narrow 2-1 victory over West Ham United last Saturday, which is sure to keep them in high spirits heading into this midweek showdown versus the West Midlands outfit.
The Mancunian giants could set themselves up in a 4-3-3 formation once again, with Guardiola expected to make some changes to his first-team for this game. Rodri, Joao Cancelo and Raheem Sterling might start this match at the expense of Oleksandr Zinchenko, Kyle Walker and Ferran Torres.
4-3-3 Manchester City Predicted Lineup To Face Wolves
Defence
Ederson will operate in goal for Man City after he shipped in one goal versus the Hammers in his last outing. Ruben Dias will once again play alongside John Stones at the heart of Guardiola’s defence. Both of them managed to get their names on the scoresheet last Saturday, but they will be more focussed on keeping a clean sheet this time around.
Kyle Walker could retain his place at right-back while Joao Cancelo fills in on the other side as the left-back. Guardiola will ask them to keep a good shape at the back and get forward at every chance they can get in support of the front players.
Midfield
Ilkay Gundogan, Rodri and Kevin De Bruyne could make up the Man City midfield. The talented trio will be responsible for establishing their superiority over the opposition at the centre of the park and orchestrate some meaningful openings in the attacking third.
Fernandinho got a start in the last game, so he will have to settle for a spot on the bench but could come on to influence the game in the latter stages if needed.
Attack
Raheem Sterling is expected to function as the left-sided winger after he was rested versus the Hammers. Riyad Mahrez might keep his place on the other flank as the right-winger. Gabriel Jesus will probably get the nod to lead the line for the Mancunian giants down the middle.
Ferran Torres and Sergio Aguero will be available for selection on the bench as they wait for their chance to shine as the impact substitutes if Guardiola decides to call upon their services.
