Chelsea will entertain Manchester United at Stamford Bridge on Sunday evening as they try to pick up all three points at home. The Blues managed to secure a narrow 1-0 victory over Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Champions League in midweek, which will keep them in high spirits heading into this weekend’s Premier League clash at the English capital.
Thomas Tuchel will set his team up in a 3-4-2-1 formation once again and could make one change to his team for this blockbuster showdown in the league. Reece James is expected to get a start as a right-sided wide player while Callum Hudson-Odoi drops to the bench.
3-4-2-1 Chelsea Predicted Lineup To Face Manchester United
Defence
Edouard Mendy will function in between the sticks for the Blues after securing a clean sheet in his last outing. The Chelsea boss could once again go with a back three of Cesar Azpilicueta, Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger as they look to keep things solid at the back on Sunday.
Kurt Zouma will have to be content with a spot on the bench as he provides cover for the centre-half positions.
Midfield
Mateo Kovacic will resume his midfield partnership with Jorginho as the pair look to dominate possession at the centre of the park and disrupt Man United’s flow on the counter. Marcos Alonso would operate as the left wing-back while Reece James fills in on the other flank as the right wing-back.
Timo Werner and Mason Mount will be given the freedom to express themselves as the attacking midfielders in the opposition half, so they will have to find a way to create some headaches for the Man United defenders throughout the 90 minutes.
N’Golo Kante and Callum Hudson-Odoi will be named on the bench but could come on to add some energy to Tuchel’s midfield in the latter stages of the game.
Attack
Olivier Giroud will spearhead Tuchel’s attack up top. The French centre-back managed to get his name on the scoresheet versus Atletico Madrid in midweek, so we can expect him to fancy his chances of producing a similar display this weekend.
Hakim Ziyech will probably be named on the bench as he waits for his opportunity to shine as an impact substitute if Tuchel decides to call upon his services.
