In a recent report, Argentine news outlet El Intransigente has provided an update on Liverpool‘s pursuit of Sevilla playmaker Lucas Ocampos. It has been revealed that the Argentine wing wizard prefers a move to Anfield while the Reds are considering whether to launch a move to acquire his services (via El Intransigente).
Ocampos’s Decent Run Of Form At Seville This Season
It has been a season full of promise for the Quilmes-born wide player because he has produced a string of eye-catching performances from the left side of Sevilla’s attack. Ocampos has made 31 appearances for Julen Lopetegui’s side this term, finding the back of the net on seven occasions while securing four assists in various competitions.
The 26-year-old has managed to impact both ends of the field after averaging 1.1 tackles, 0.6 interceptions, 0.7 clearances, 1.9 shots, 1.0 key passes and 2.4 dribbles per match in La Liga and the UEFA Champions League group stages. However, he needs to be a bit more careful when distributing possession in the attacking third as he has completed 77% of his attempted passes in both those competitions (stats via whoscored).
Ocampos is currently under contract at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium until the summer of 2024, so the Reds will have to make a big-money offer if they are to have any chance of recruiting him in the summer.

Ocampos’ knack for influencing the game in both halves makes him a good fit for Jurgen Klopp’s style of play at Anfield. He will undeniably add more quality and depth to the Liverpool squad that has been struck by multiple injuries this season.
