Tottenham Hotspur faced off against West Ham United at the London Stadium earlier this afternoon hoping to pick up a positive result in the London derby. Spurs made a poor start to the game as they conceded the opening goal in the fifth minute when Michail Antonio found the back of the net. Jose Mourinho’s men struggled to come up with a response and went into the half-time break one goal down on the scoreline.
Jesse Lingard doubled West Ham’s lead just two minutes into the second half, but Lucas Moura got a goal back for Tottenham in the 64th minute to set-up a grand finale. However, Spurs failed to finish off their chances as the contest finished 2-1 in favour of the home team.
Let’s take a look at how each Tottenham player fared during the clash against the Hammers.
GK: Hugo Lloris – 6/10
The French keeper made a couple of solid saves but will be disappointed after conceding a goal in the early stages of both halves.
RB: Japhet Tanganga – 5/10
He struggled to make an impact during his time on the field and was replaced at half-time.
CB: Davinson Sanchez – 6.5/10
The Colombian defensive ace was strong in the air and made several important clearances at the back. He also got stuck in with a few tackles to earn possession back for his team.
CB: Eric Dier – 7/10
Dier was a rock inside his half as he won multiple aerial duels during the 90 minutes. He also created a couple of decent chances in the final third.
LB: Reguilon – 6/10
The Spaniard cleared his lines when needed but didn’t create too many openings in the West Ham half. He was cautioned and got replaced before the end of the game.
CM: Pierre-Emile Højbjerg – 6/10
Hojbjerg made a couple of crucial interceptions but didn’t do enough to keep the Hammers at bay. He struggled to influence the game in the attacking third.
CM: Tanguy Ndombele – 6/10
Ndombele made a couple of promising dashes from midfield and was excellent with his ball-distribution. However, he was not as effective without the ball.
LW: Heung-min Son – 6.5/10
Son orchestrated quite a few inviting chances for others around him but was not clinical enough to get himself a goal.
CAM: Erik Lamela – 6.5/10
He had some bright moments in the first half but got substituted at half-time.
RW: Lucas Moura – 8/10
The Brazilian speedster got a goal back for Tottenham in the 64th minute which gave his teammates some hope of a comeback in the latter stages of the game. He was a constant menace for the opposition but probably should have added to his goal-tally with all the chances he got.
ST: Harry Kane – 6/10
Kane got plenty of chances to find the back of the net but was lacklustre in the final third. It was quite a frustrating outing for him today.
Substitutes:
RB: Matt Doherty – 6.5/10
He cleared the danger when required and made one good chance in the second half.
CAM: Gareth Bale – 7/10
The Welshman set up Lucas Moura’s goal and probably should have had a goal himself.
CAM: Delle Alli – 6/10
He struggled to get into the game.
