Tottenham Hotspur are hoping to capitalise on their 4-1 win over Wolfsberger AC in midweek when they lock horns with West Ham on Sunday. It is going to be a vital game for the Lilywhites, who have secured only one win in their last five league matches – a run of results that has left them out of the top four contentions. However, sealing all three points against the Hammers could go a long way in keeping their hopes alive.
Predicted Tottenham Hotspur Lineup Vs West Ham
Defence
Sergio Reguilon is still on the sidelines due to his muscle injury, but Jose Mourinho has set a potential timeframe on his return, marking the second leg encounter against Wolfsberg.
His absence against West Ham, meanwhile, should see Ben Davies once again operate at left-back while Japhet Tanganga might return at right-back. The youngster should provide more solidity than Matt Doherty while Serge Aurier’s status remains unknown.
There could be changes in central defence as well, with Davinson Sanchez likely to replace Eric Dier. The Colombian should renew his partnership with Toby Alderweireld at the heart of the four-man backline while Hugo Lloris retains his place in between the sticks.
Midfield
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg was given a rest in midweek, in the form of a substitute appearance. He is a guaranteed starter against West Ham, with the Dane bracing himself for a difficult test against the likes of Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek.
Hojbjerg is likely to be partnered by Tanguy Ndombele in the double pivot. Mourinho does have alternatives in Harry Winks and Moussa Sissoko.
Attack
Harry Kane was left out of the squad that travelled to Hungary in midweek. So one can expect the English international to return to the Tottenham attack in the number nine role. His combination play with Son Heung-Min could once again be critical to Spurs’ chances of salvaging all three points in this fixture.
The duo will be further aided by Lucas Moura operating in the number ten role, in the absence of Giovani Lo Celso while Gareth Bale may continue on the opposite flank following his promising display against Wolfsberger AC in midweek.
