Everton will entertain Fulham at Goodison Park on Sunday night as they look to return to winning ways in the Premier League. The Toffees managed to earn an entertaining 5-4 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in the FA Cup in midweek which could give them a confidence boost heading into this weekend’s encounter versus the Cottagers.
Carlo Ancelotti will stick with his favoured 4-2-3-1 formation but could be forced to make a few changes to his team for this game. The Italian tactician is sweating on the fitness of Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who is unlikely to be risked against Scott Parker’s men. Hence, we can expect to see Joshua King get a chance to lead the line for the Merseyside outfit up top.
4-2-3-1 Everton Predicted Lineup To Face Fulham
Defence
Robin Olsen will continue to feature in between the sticks for the Toffees in the absence of Jordan Pickford, who is still making his way back from a chest injury. Ben Godfrey will resume his defensive partnership with Michael Keane at the centre of the Everton backline as they try to keep the Fulham attackers frustrated throughout the game.
Mason Holgate will get the nod to function at right-back. Lucas Digne might start as the left-back if he can recover in time from a knock he picked up in midweek. Ancelotti will ask both of his full-backs to make some adventurous runs so that they can stretch the Cottagers defence out on the wide areas.
Midfield
Andre Gomes is a slight doubt for this game but could be available in time to start alongside Abdoulaye Doucoure in the holding midfield positions. The technically-gifted trio of Richarlison, Gylfi Sigurdsson and James Rodriguez will play just ahead of them as part of Ancelotti’s attack. Rodriguez is struggling with a calf injury but should be ready in time to face the Cottagers.
Tom Davies will have to settle for a place on the bench but might come on to make an impact in the second 45 minutes if needed.
Attack
Dominic Calvert-Lewin has sustained a thigh injury which could keep him out of this game. Therefore, Ancelotti will have no choice but to play Joshua King as a centre-forward up top. The Norwegian attacker will look to use his pace to get in behind the Fulham backline on Sunday night.
