Manchester City will play hosts to Tottenham Hotspur at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday evening hoping to stretch their remarkable winning run in the Premier League. Pep Guardiola’s men are in pole position to secure another league title, so they will be eager to get all three points in the bag versus Spurs this weekend.
Man City could set themselves up in a 4-3-3 formation. However, Guardiola will be sweating on the fitness of Ruben Dias, Rodri and Fernandinho ahead of this weekend’s league clash at home. Dias is struggling with illness while Rodri picked up a knock in midweek, so the Man City boss will keep his fingers crossed that they can both recover in time for this game.
4-3-3 Manchester City Predicted Lineup To Face Tottenham Hotspur
Defence
Ederson will feature in between the sticks for the Mancunian giants after getting a rest in the win over Swansea City in midweek. If Dias can recover in time, he will be nailed-on to start alongside John Stones at the heart of Guardiola’s defence as they try to restrict Tottenham’s Harry Kane and Heung-min Son from scoring throughout the 90 minutes.
Joao Cancelo will get the nod to operate at right-back while Oleksandr Zinchenko fills in on the other flank as the left-back. Guardiola will give both of them the license to get forward and join in on the attack so that they can offer enough support to the front players.
Aymeric Laporte will be on standby just in case Dias fails to make himself available this weekend.
Midfield
Guardiola’s midfield will be comprised of Ilkay Gundogan, Rodri and Bernardo Silva as the talented trio focus on retaining the ball in the hopes of engineering some clear-cut chances in the final third. Rodri is a slight concern for his game along with Fernandinho, so Tommy Doyle might offer cover for them on the bench.
Attack
Phil Foden produced a superb display in his last league start. Hence, he will be a guaranteed starter on the left-wing while Raheem Sterling hopes to catch the eye from the right flank. Gabriel Jesus could get a chance to spearhead Guardiola’s attack down the middle.
Riyad Mahrez and Ferran Torres will be named on the bench as they wait for their chance to shine in the latter stages if required.
