Chelsea hold onto their top spot in the Premier League with a 2-1 win against London rivals Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday. Liverpool, courtesy to their 2-0 win against Sunderland earlier, leapfrogged ahead of the Blues to the top spot and Antonio Conte’s boys came up with a brilliant display at Stamford Bridge against Spurs to hand them their first Premier League loss of the season.
It was certain with Spurs’ 2-1 loss against Monaco in the midweek that the Lilywhites won’t make it to the round of 16 of the Champions League. However, they looked on course to recover from their Champions League heartbreak when Christian Eriksen 11th-minute strike put them in front. But, the joy was short-lived for the North London side.
It was Spurs who controlled the game throughout the first half after their early strike before Pedro scored a stunner on the dying minutes of the first-half. There is a theory that there is no better time to score than just before or after the half-time whistle and the theory proved to be true. We saw a whole different Chelsea in the second half and they got their winner just six minutes after the break and it was Victor Moses who scored it.
Well, no matter which club you support, you gotta admire Conte! A manager, who never managed outside his native Italy, English football by a storm and Chelsea are 17 points ahead of where they were by this time last time out. On the other hand, Pochettino will be a concerned man right now. His side is no more the only unbeaten team in the League and are seven points off the top spot now.
Twitter took the opportunity to take a dig at Spurs for their loss against Chelsea. Pochettino rested some of his key players in the midweek against Monaco in an all-important Champions League game just to keep them fresh for the Chelsea game. But, the plan did not work out as they lost both games. Let us take a look at some of the best tweets on Spurs’ loss.
Excellent day. Anything more fulfilling than beating Tottenham? From behind. To go top of the league. Can we get it coated in chocolate?

We congratulate Tottenham on staying invincible for 12 matches. Is it a power shift? No.

The most hilarious part about winning today is that Spurs tanked their CL chances for the loss
