According to Tuttojuve, Tottenham Hotspur are among clubs interested in Aaron Ramsey. The Juventus midfielder is set to be available in the summer, with the Serie A giants ready to cash in on him for a fee in the region of €10 million to €15 million. It has put Spurs on red alert, although they could face stiff competition from Premier League rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Aaron Ramsey’s Spell At Juventus
Ramsey joined Juventus back in 2019, on a free transfer from Arsenal. It marked the start of an influx of English players in foreign leagues, but the success of the transfer clearly hasn’t been a good advert.
During his ongoing 18 month spell with the club, Ramsey has faced a number of issues. In particular, lack of game-time has been a major problem, with the playmaker mustering just over 1,000 minutes of league football under Maurizio Sarri last season. Things haven’t exactly improved under Andrea Pirlo either as he has amassed only nine starts so far this campaign.
Ramsey’s performances in the Serie A has also been below-par. He has had difficulties settling into the more tactical nature of the Italian top flight, often failing to produce the consistency that was so prevalent in the Premier League. Therefore, a move away from Allianz Stadium could be on the cards for the Welshman in the summer.
Is Ramsey A Good Option For Tottenham?
Tottenham Hotspur could be braced for a busy summer transfer window as Jose Mourinho looks to build his squad from scratch. While the Portuguese tactician has made some smart acquisitions like Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Sergio Reguilon and Joe Rodon, he is yet to offload some of the fringe players in the team.
Dele Alli, for one, is a prime example, having fallen from grace over the past 18 months. He was even linked with a move to PSG in January, but the move didn’t materialise. Nevertheless, the Englishman is destined to leave the club in the summer, which is where Aaron Ramsey could come into the fray.
The former Arsenal star will be a like for like replacement for Alli. He can operate in the number ten position and thus provide competition for Tanguy Ndombele and Giovani Lo Celso’s likes.
The Welshman hasn’t had a great time in Italy, but his abundance of experience in the Premier League could potentially make him a smart investment for Tottenham, especially for a bargain fee of €10-€15 million. Definitely won’t go down well for Arsenal fans though, and it is doubtful that Ramsey would want to antagonise the supporters there.
