Everton will lock horns with Manchester United at Old Trafford on Saturday night as they try to grind out a result on the road. The Toffees managed to claim a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Leeds United in midweek, so they will be quietly confident about getting something from this game versus the Red Devils.
Carlo Ancelotti could opt for a 4-2-3-1 formation and is expected to make some changes to his first-team for this clash at the Theatre of Dreams. Both James Rodriguez and Michael Keane could be in line to return to Ancelotti’s starting XI after they were rested against the Whites earlier this week.

Defence
Jordan Pickford is a major doubt for this game, so Robin Olsen might keep his place in goal for the Toffees after he shipped in one goal in his last league start. Michael Keane could return to feature alongside Yerry Mina at the heart of Ancelotti’s defence as they look to keep Man United’s Anthony Martial quiet throughout the 90 minutes.
Mason Holgate will probably retain his place at right-back while Lucas Digne focusses on putting on a productive display as the left-back. Both of them can expect a busy night as they will have to stop the Red Devils from getting in behind them out on the flanks.
Ben Godfrey and Seamus Coleman will have to settle for a place on the bench as they serve as the back-ups for the defensive positions.
Midfield
Andre Gomes and Abdoulaye Doucoure will continue to play in the holding midfield positions. Their main job would be to protect the backline against Man United’s devastating counter-attacks. Richarlison is expected to function as the left-winger while James Rodriguez gets another chance to weave his magic from the right flank.
Gylfi Sigurdsson could keep his place in Ancelotti’s first-team as he will once again operate in the number ten position. The Icelandic international gave Everton an early lead in the game versus Leeds United, so he will be eager to put on a good showing at Old Trafford this weekend.
Tom Davies and Alex Iwobi will make up the numbers on the bench as they await their chance to shine as the impact substitutes if Ancelotti calls upon their services.
Attack
Dominic Calvert-Lewin will lead the charge for the Toffees up top. The English marksman got his name on the scoresheet in his last league outing which will give him a confidence boost heading into this weekend’s contest away at Manchester.
